Jesus > Brand

I realized something recently. Simply put, I don’t care about so many things the world cares about.

Mere months ago I just could NOT stop thinking about marketing and branding and how to get my various ideas off the ground. I worked day and night and neglected my family and duties in order to pursue my plans.

I planned my future and I worked hard to make it a reality.

But Proverbs 16 tells me that “all a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord,” “commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans,” and “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”

But I didn’t commit it to God. I thought I had. I thought committing my work to God meant that I would pray and tell Him what I was going to do then I would go and do it.

That isn’t what it means at all.

It means that we should actually commit what we’re doing to God, to whether or not He approves of it. And if He doesn’t approve of it, then don’t do it. If He does, then get out of the way and allow Him to establish your plans.

I didn’t do that, though. I did what I wanted to do despite knowing inside that it wasn’t what God wanted for me.

I’m on a different path now, though. He told me to stop everything I was doing, and I did. Turn’s out He knows what He’s talking about. And I feel more joy than I ever have. Jesus is King.
