The Storm

Photo by Oleg Magni on Pexels.com I'm caught in a twister. I've sewn seeds of destruction. I am working. I'm getting stuff done. That's what I tell myself. Really I'm ripping up the Earth, tearing through the city, not noticing or caring about my own destructive wake. I'm am the twister. I am the storm, … Continue reading The Storm

Stop and enjoy the view

Photo by Pixabay on Pexels.com What is there to be said of "going with the flow"? I once thought it a virtue, to be the kind of person who willingly moves where life directs. This view was passed down to me by my mother, a veritable "free spirit" if ever there was one, and it … Continue reading Stop and enjoy the view

Begin

Photo by Danielle MacInnes on Unsplash I spent a lot of time waiting. Just waiting. I thought that at some point in the future I would recognize that it was "the perfect time" to begin pursuing my dreams. I wasted a lot of years that way. Granted, they weren't a total loss, because I learned … Continue reading Begin

Being Authentically You – Why It’s Good for Your Soul (and Others)

Photo by Denis Agati on Unsplash I'm just gonna jump into it! First, there’s no one like you. What you create and say and do is unique to you. Keeping that bottled up is depriving the world of your art! There are a lot of people out there who would love to see what you … Continue reading Being Authentically You – Why It’s Good for Your Soul (and Others)

God and Cain and Abel

Photo by Ian on Unsplash I've been thinking a lot lately about the Biblical reality that God was more pleased with Abel's offering to Him than He was with Cain's offering. Many of you know at this point that I don't consume animal products. If you've read THIS POST then you'll know why. My goal … Continue reading God and Cain and Abel

“Blinders On”

Photo by ian dooley on Unsplash I've been on a crazy Audible kick lately, and I'm currently listening to "Crushing It: How Great Entrepreneurs Build Their Business and Influence - and How You Can, Too" by Gary Vaynerchuck. The book is full of value, but one thing stands out in my mind, and that is … Continue reading “Blinders On”

Monk Mode

Monk Mode was a way for me to say no to some of the instant gratification I so often sought. I could say, "No, I'm in Monk Mode right now. I need to focus." It helped quite a lot. But that phrase in and of itself is just a tool. It can help in the moment of temptation to get you through it, but eventually it grows stale without some kind of long-term commitment.

Why Am I Here?

Photo by Danny Howe on Unsplash Why am I here? It's a question that has plagued humanity since long before we could drown out our existential dread with alcohol, drugs, junk food, porn, video games, etc. It's a question that I've asked numerous times. Or is it? Is that the question I asked? Or are … Continue reading Why Am I Here?

Jesus loves me, this I know…

Photo by Gift Habeshaw on Unsplash Writing Music (There's an audio version of this at the bottom of the page, or you can listen HERE.) I remember running as a child through the forests near my home, through fields, down dirt roads, over creeks... I was always running, climbing, biking, jumping. Always moving, except for … Continue reading Jesus loves me, this I know…

Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus

Photo by Walter Chávez on Unsplash Writing Music Welcome back all. It's been a good spring break, but now back to the writing. I've got a lot coming down the pipeline but before all that I wanted to take a moment to look at Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus Christ. It seems like he … Continue reading Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus
