Why Is It So Hard To Be Who I Want To Be?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to actually be the person you’ve always wanted to be?

I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately. And I’ve been asking myself (and God) why it’s so difficult to be that person. I see the man I want to be. I know, at least in part, what it will take to get there, but it’s like I fight myself every step of the way.

It’s exhausting.

I want to just choose the thing and then be willing to do it even if it hurts or is difficult.

But that’s not the way of things unfortunately.

It’s so much easier to pick the level path when the level path already has everything you need, plus comfort.

The mountain? It has what you really want, but you’ve got to climb it.

And therein lies the problem.

How do I convince myself to continue climbing the mountain day after day when I can turn around and see not only the level path with everything I need already on it, but I can also see that I haven’t even made it that far up!

It’s wild. And dumb. And kind of irritating.

And the best version of me wants to keep climbing.

But the logical version of me, the one who hates wasted energy, wants me to sit down and eat chips…
